Things to do in Kunigiškės and Palanga

Kunigiškės (Kunigiškiai) is the quiet part of the Palanga resort, between the town centre and Šventoji. There is far less bustle here than around Basanavičiaus street, yet all the seaside attractions are within easy reach. Here is what to do when staying at Vaivorykštės Poolside Apartment.

Kunigiškės beach – peace and quiet 10 minutes away

The biggest advantage of Kunigiškės is its spacious, calm beach, reached in about 10 minutes on foot along a path through the pine forest. On summer weekends, when the central Palanga beach gets crowded, you will always find a spot for your towel here. Dunes, the scent of pines and a wide stretch of white sand – the real Baltic seaside without the crowds.

The seaside cycling path

The seaside cycling path connecting Palanga with Šventoji runs right past Kunigiškės. It is one of the most beautiful cycling routes in Lithuania, winding through the pine forest parallel to the sea. In one direction you can reach the Palanga pier in about half an hour; in the other – the Šventoji harbour. Bike rentals are available in Palanga and, in season, closer to Kunigiškės.

Palanga town centre and Basanavičiaus street

The centre of Palanga is about 5 km away – a few minutes by car or a pleasant bike ride. Basanavičiaus street, with its restaurants, amusements and lively evenings, leads straight to the famous Palanga pier – the best spot for a Baltic sunset. And when you return to Kunigiškės, the quiet is all yours again.

Birutė Park and the Amber Museum

In the southern part of Palanga lies Birutė Park, one of the most beautiful landscape parks in the Baltics, designed by the French landscape architect Édouard André. The park is home to the Tiškevičiai Palace, which houses the Amber Museum with one of the largest amber collections in the world. A great choice for a non-beach day.

Šventoji

North of Kunigiškės is Šventoji, with its fishing-village atmosphere, harbour and spacious beaches. It is a lovely ride along the seaside cycling path, or just a few minutes by car. The Šventoji dunes and the Samogitian Sanctuary make a good half-day trip.

HBH amusement park

A few kilometres away, in the village of Žibininkai, is the well-known HBH park – a brewery, restaurant and large amusement park with rides for children. It is about a 10-minute drive from Kunigiškės and a great family outing, especially on a cooler day.

An evening by the pool

And the best way to end the day is to come back to the apartment in Kunigiškės: warm up in the heated outdoor pool, grill dinner on the barbecue and watch the evening settle in from your private terrace. That is why guests choose Kunigiškės – the seaside fun is nearby, and the peace is all yours.
